David Walker is a Research Fellow in the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues at the University of Birmingham. His interest in character and identity began during a first full career in the British Army. After a PhD in Sociology and Social Policy at Durham University he worked in USA at the Human Development and Family Studies Department (HDFS), Purdue University, researching family life in military families. David was Principal Investigator for the ‘Character Education in British Schools’ project (Sep 12 – Feb 15) and is now Principal Investigator for a 3-year study of character among junior Army officers.
