HRF Turns 20: Twelve Months, Twelve Causes
The Home Renaissance Foundation (HRF) celebrates its 20th anniversary as an international think tank dedicated to understanding the role of the home in human development. Based in London, HRF has spent the past two decades researching how domestic environments shape individual wellbeing, family life, and society as a whole
Since its founding, HRF has brought together insights from a wide range of disciplines—including architecture, sociology, psychology, economics, and public policy—to explore how the home influences the way people live, grow, and interact. HRF’s research has revealed a powerful truth: the home is far more than a backdrop to daily life
To mark this milestone anniversary in 2026, HRF is launching a special initiative titled “12 Months, 12 Causes.” Over the course of the year, the Foundation will publish twelve articles, each focusing on a key theme that has emerged from its research over the last twenty years. Together, these articles will highlight the most significant findings and ideas developed across disciplines, offering a comprehensive reflection on HRF’s intellectual journey. And will serve both as a celebration of HRF’s legacy and as a forward-looking exploration of the home’s enduring importance in a rapidly changing world.
The authors of this series are among the most respected academics and experts who have worked alongside HRF over the years. Each article will stand alone, yet together they will form a compelling narrative—one that unfolds month by month.
