"I enjoy facing challenges and do so enthusiastically and so with my conviction concurring 100% with that of Home Renaissance Foundation I feel honoured to stand as Director of this charitable company. In Home Renaissance Foundation we aim not to focus on the problems that are all too evident in society today regarding the home, but rather to centre our efforts on developing solutions that will help the work of the home be better understood and appreciated so that the fundamental needs of the individual and the family can be met. With the pressing need to increase society’s awareness of the importance and dignity of the work of the home I endeavour to preserve our vision so as to bring it forward to realisation."

CV

Since studying Business and Commerce, School of Commerce in Bilbao, Spain, Mercedes has had extensive experience in the voluntary sector, primarily in a managerial role and in administrating finances and raising funds. After working in the field of accounting and finance administration for a period of ten years she became Financial Consultant to Dawliffe Hall Educational Foundation (DHEF), a charitable company, (which means that it is both a Registered Charity as well as a Company Limited by Guarantee), in 1982.

Until being appointed as Executive Director of Home Renaissance Foundation in 2007 she assumed various posts and responsibilities within this charitable company such as, Company Director and in 2005 Finance Director of DHEF. During this time she attained a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Management of non-profit organizations from City University, VOLPROF program (now The Centre for Charity Effectiveness, Cass Business School).

In 2006 Mercedes became the Project Manager of the international, interdisciplinary conference Excellence in the Home, the outcome of which was the impetus behind Home Renaissance Foundation. The experience Mercedes has acquired in the voluntary sector particularly in the raising of funds, alongside her managerial and communication skills and her responsible and efficient attitude towards the task in hand provides the skills required to raise and direct Home Renaissance Foundation from its outset towards the achievement of its objectives.
